These terms govern your use of CanDash (“the app”), an iOS app published by SwiftCarTech (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
CanDash is an OBD-II diagnostics and gauge-display app for car enthusiasts. It connects to a third-party OBD-II adapter plugged into your vehicle’s diagnostic port and reads data using the ELM327 protocol. It is intended for car owners who want to view live vehicle data, customise their dashboard, and read or clear diagnostic trouble codes on a vehicle they own or are authorised to access.
Do not operate the app while driving. Configure your dashboard before you start driving. If you want to view live data while moving, mount your phone safely and let a passenger handle interaction. You are responsible for using the app in a manner that complies with road traffic law in your jurisdiction.
The Performance tab includes timed-run features (0–60, ¼ mile, etc.). These are intended for use on private roads, closed circuits, or drag strips only. Timing your vehicle on public roads is illegal and dangerous in most jurisdictions, and is your sole responsibility.
CanDash reads data from your vehicle’s ECU and, in the Diagnostics tab, can clear stored fault codes. Clearing fault codes erases information that may be important for diagnosing a fault. Use this feature only if you understand what you are doing. We are not responsible for any consequence of clearing fault codes, including but not limited to:
The data shown by CanDash depends on what your vehicle’s ECU reports and on the accuracy of the OBD-II adapter you use. Readings may be inaccurate, delayed, or missing entirely. Do not rely on CanDash for safety-critical decisions. Always cross-reference with your vehicle’s own instruments and a qualified mechanic where appropriate.
CanDash includes vehicle-specific PID packs (for example, Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, VAG, Mazda, GM) that read manufacturer-specific data using extended OBD-II requests. These PIDs are derived from publicly available information and community research, not from manufacturer technical documentation we have a licence to. They have been tested where possible but we cannot guarantee they will work, or work correctly, on every vehicle, model year, or trim level. The performance of any specific PID on your specific vehicle is not guaranteed.
CanDash performs universal OBD-II diagnostics (engine fault codes, MIL status, emissions readiness, live engine data) on any vehicle built 1996 or later that complies with the OBD-II standard. Deeper diagnostic features — including module discovery, per-module fault code reading, and module identification — are only available on vehicles for which we have published a diagnostic database entry. The list of supported vehicles grows over time as we add new database entries; updates are delivered automatically without requiring an app update.
If your vehicle is not yet in the database, you will still be able to use the standard universal OBD-II features, but the deeper module-level scan will not be offered for that vehicle.
CanDash offers an optional one-time in-app purchase (“CanDash Pro”). It is non-consumable: once bought, it is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in with that Apple ID.
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies; we cannot issue refunds directly. To request a refund, use Apple’s “Report a Problem” page: https://reportaproblem.apple.com/.
Prices may change. The price you pay is the price shown at the moment you confirm the purchase. Vehicle-specific PID packs are included with CanDash Pro at no additional charge and are added over time via free updates.
You may use CanDash for any lawful, personal purpose related to a vehicle you own or are authorised to diagnose. You may not:
CanDash is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, compatible with every vehicle, or that any specific OBD parameter will be supported on your vehicle.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SwiftCarTech is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or vehicle use, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the app and any in-app purchases in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including, in the UK, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
These terms apply for as long as you use the app. We may withdraw the app from the App Store at any time. Your previously purchased non-consumable in-app purchases remain restorable through your Apple ID for as long as Apple supports restoration.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also have rights under the law of your country of residence; nothing in these terms takes those rights away.
If these terms change, we will update the “Last updated” date and reflect material changes in the next app update’s release notes.
